Huck Finn response 2

Reader Response 2: Huck Finn (7-13)
Huck is influenced by Tom Sawyer Huck seems as if he idolizes Tom and the things that he does. But sometimes all the stuff Tom does isn’t the best influence’s on Huck. such as going on the boat with Jim. (pg. 50 paragraph 4 "do you reckon Tom Sawyer would ever go by this thing? Not for pie, he wouldn’t he’d call it an adventure- that’s what he’d call it and he’d land on that wreck as if it were his last act" Jim knew it wasn’t a good idea, Huck Knew as well He knew he could be putting his life in danger by doing it and he knows the consequences but then thinks "what would Tom Sawyer do? So Huck does it anyways and usually gets in trouble or in a predicament for what he does it.

Huck is influenced by Widow Douglas as well. The widow is a good influence on Huck she took him in and actually cared for him she tried to give Huck an education and teach him from right from wrong. also When pap took Huck away she tried to get him back so she must have cared if she wanted him and you could tell that she was worried when Huck faked his death, As much as Widow Douglas was a good influence Huck didn’t think so after he lived with his dad though (pg.18 paragraph 3 "It was kind of lazy and jolly, laying off comfortable all day, smoking and fishing no books nor study. Two months or more run along and my clothes got to be all rags and dirt, and I didn’t see how I’d ever got to like it so well at the widows, Where you had to was, and eat on a plate, and comb up, and go to bed and get up regular and be forever bothered over a book"

Pap is actually probably the best influence on Huck even through what Pap is doing is not right Pap shows Huck what Whisky does even though he doesn’t mean it (pg 22 paragraph 3) "by and by he rolled out and jumped on to his feet looking wild and he see me and went for me. He chased me round and round thee place with a clasp-knife calling em the angel of death and saying he was kill me then I wouldn’t come for him no more" It shows how stupid and crazy it can actually make a person to actually try to harm you own son, Also the way that pap beats Huck (pg.18 paragraph 4 "by and by pap got too handy with his hick’ry and I couldn’t stand it. I was all over in welts" Huck see’s the person that pap is and doesn’t want to be like that.

Jim is a good influence on Huck He follows directions and doesn’t like to get in trouble. When Huck pointed out the wreck Jim thought it was a bad idea to go on it (pg.50 paragraph 3 "I doan want to go fool’n long er no wrack. We’s doin blame well en we better let blame well alone as de good book says like as not dey’s a watchman on dat wrack" Jim sets good examples for Huck as an adult he knows what best and Huck should look up to that. Also Jim is helping Huck and Huck is helping him he could show huck that blacks are people too.
