blog response # 6 find a poet

Don't try to wake me up Even if the sun really does come out tomorrow Don't believe anything you say anymoreIn the mourn, in the morning Bricks to this old house are breaking Steel would have weathered, but now forlorning It's alarming how loud the silence screams No warn, no warn, no warning Addictions fill the table where the family used to sitAnd conversate to the sounds, to the sounds of the record playerWith its jumping needle and the lights that grew dim over time, with downcast eyesThere's more to lving than being aliveAre you where you thought you would be?So beautiful and only 23Opposition rests in the hearts with no oppurtunityIt's not that we don't talkIt's just no one really listens and honesty fadesLike a politician who lost in the courseAll smiles but no one remembers our namesWith downcast eyes, there's more to living that being aliveDon't try to wake me up even if the sun really does come out tomorrowDon't believe anything I say anymoreIn the mourn, in the morningWith downcast eyesThere is more to living than being alive

This song is by anberlin the name of it is alexithymia I like this song a lot because I can relate to it, it makes me feel like I’m not the only person in the world who feels this way about life and people, It say’s a lot with out actually saying it. The first time I heard this song and actually listened to the words I got the meaning and it was as if it was just singing out my life, I guess it just has so much meaning to me and that’s why I like it.

The poem connects to my life it’s pretty much about family and friends to me its about living in a world with people who don’t understand they listen to you but don’t actually hear what your saying its just words that mean nothing, Things that once meant everything to you slowly change and drift away and its hard getting used to it, It also says that there is more to living then being alive and that’s something that I believe in strongly that there really is, you need a lot living you need people friends family education, can you imagine being alive and not having any of that these things keep you living and sane without them is there really a point in living. People take being alive for granted they never actually think about what they have and what’s keeping them alive.

My personal definition in poetry is something special and creative just because you make it up, It’s the way you feel and your thoughts and way of thinking, the way that you see things and picture them in a way that know one else does, it’s the way of letting out things like anger and sadness I think poetry is something that comes from the heart.
